August 27, 2004 -- From 30th July to August 1st, HP invent Smart World exhibition showcased Digital Cafe system developed and built by FarOut Technologies to the Indonesian audiences attending the show.
The system taking advantage of the popular WiFi connection commonly found in many Jakarta's cafes is showing how it would ease the complication of stock inventory, menu management, order placement and many more. Basically, it's an ERP for Cafe and Restaurant.
Currently works for Pocket PC to show off HP's IPAQ capabilities, the system is to ported to Symbian and Java based phones at later date allowing cell phones user the same benefits. It would send a small message notification and tied in with Cellular LBS used by carrier, cell phones users will be able to locate cafes and restaurants in the area and learn about their menu offerings and even pricing before making the choice on where to spend dining out.
In the very short future, the mobile version of the system will be launch as content offering to cellular carriers in the region and collaborate with Jakarta's famous cafes and restaurants.
